HSE SPECIALIST
Key outputs: Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, the incumbent will identify and develop health standards, procedures and work instructions, and will be responsible for the implementation of OHSAS 18001H&S and OHSAS 18001 H&S. He/she will establish and manage an occupational health management programme, conduct and facilitate incident and accident investigations, and undertake safety inspections, planned job observations and audits. The role furthermore involves developing safety specifications and job specifications, as well as approval of health and safety plans for contractors. The incumbent will also assist with the implementation of ISO 14001EMS, undertake environmental impact studies for new projects and conduct environmental incident investigations.
Qualifications and experience: A degree or diploma in the fields of Natural Sciences, Safety, Environmental or Risk Management, 3 years’ extensive experience in an HSEQ environment and a working knowledge of HSEQ management systems, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 are definitely needed, along with registration with the Institute of Safety Management at Coordinator or Professional level. Good verbal and written communication skills are also needed.
