Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan, 30km east of Pretoria. The Mine is currently mining at a depth of 747 meters, using mechanised trackless block-cave mining.

Senior Training Officer - Plant

The incumbent will mainly be responsible for the training and assessment of metallurgical process operators and will be required to demonstrate competence in Facilitator and Assessor skills programmes, as well as in 4 metallurgical skills programmes within a period of 18 months after appointment.

Tasks and responsibilities: • Deliver training and quality assurance • Develop lesson plans for training programmes presented at Cullinan Diamond Mine • Facilitate effective learning environments and evaluate the effectiveness of current training programmes

• Conduct training and assessments on metallurgical-specific processes and machinery • Present unit standard base training and short courses • Assess unit standard base training and short courses • Control the administration of training documentation • Coach and guide trainees • Ensure compliance with MQA and ISO standards
• Address the requirements of Section 10 of the Mine Health and Safety Act • Ensure adherence to Safety, Health and Environmental programme goals and objectives • Ensure personal and co-workers’ adherence to and compliance with security and the Company’s SHE objectives • Work according to the mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done.

Minimum requirements: • Matric or Grade 12 • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the operational processes of a metallurgical processing environment • Computer literacy, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Windows system.

Other skills/competencies: • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English • The ability to interface with all customers • The ability to work independently and as part of the team • Facilitation, presentation, coaching and mentoring skills • Sound planning, leading and organisational abilities • Independent, self-motivated and proactive thinking • Previous experience in training will be an advantage.
