Position Summary
Reports to GM Production & Operations.
Manages a team of around 25 staff made up of Production Technologists including the multi-disciplinary Integrated Asset Modelling team within BG Advance as well as having parent manager responsibility for a further 40-50 Production Technologists worldwide. Peers include Heads of Operations, Reservoir Engineering, Well Engineering, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics within BG Group. The Head of Production Technology is the Guardian of BG Group's Production Technology's standards, guidelines, systems, software tools, workflows and processes, and accountable for parenting BG Group's Production Technologists. Responsible for maximising well potential in all phases of the asset lifecycle, especially during appraisal, development and operation. The job holder maintains this discipline's integrity and the development and effective performance of the global community. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Key Accountabilities
The job holder leads Production Technology for BG Group and this accountability is principally discharged through executing the roles and responsibilities mandated under the Asset-Function accountability standard model:
Sets the strategy for Production Technology and is accountable for BG Group’s Production Technology standards, guidelines, systems, processes, workflows and tools. Is accountable for maximising well performance and production potential through each Value Assurance Framework stage. In particular, is the Technical Authority for all matters affecting well potential, technical limits and well operating envelopes, well surveillance and reservoir management.
Is the Group Technical Authority for Integrated Asset Modelling.
Owns the global portfolio of well opportunities and losses.
Accountable for the global well intervention opportunities, ensuring timely planning and execution of activities (delivered by Well Engineering).
Accountable for the global resourcing strategy, development and succession planning of Production Technology staff as well as defining competence requirements and supporting the development of PT staff.
Supports BG assets in the compilation of Reservoir Management Plans including the surveillance and intervention activities required for optimum reservoir management. Ensures that all work is quality controlled and quality assured. Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
• Substantial International Experience in Production Technology, Petroleum Engineering, Well Site Operations and Project Management. Track record of delivery in multiple reservoirs and countries worldwide
• Track record of delivery in a matrix environment. Highly skilled at conceptual thinking, relationship building and empathy. Likely to have operated with success in Joint Venture environments • Likely to have a skilled level of competence in areas such as Risk and Uncertainty Management, HPHT, Deep Water, Unconventional Reservoirs, Carbonate Reservoirs and Tight Gas. • Recognised expert in more than one aspect of Production Technology - likely to have a specialised mastery level of experience in either - Specialized Production Techniques - Unconventional Reservoirs - Fracturing - Tight Gas - CBM - Shale Gas • Experienced in interaction with Government Ministries, Joint Venture Partners, Academic Institutions and Consultants. • Strong strategic planning expertise, developed through multiple experiences. Technical project management experience; successful leadership of large teams of petroleum engineers • Experience of successfully challenging business units on issues relating to production technology, well design and operations with tangible sustainable outcomes.
