Research Officer, Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative
The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) seeks a Research Officer who will join the team working on multidimensional poverty measures. The Research Officer will contribute to OPHI’s team by supporting governments, international agencies and others who are developing multidimensional poverty measures, by organising OPHI’s annual summer school, by working with the new global Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network and by writing publishable academic papers. The postholder will be in charge of providing technical support to institutions that are designing new multidimensional measures by organising online and onsite training.
Qualifications for the position include a doctorate in economics or other social science with demonstrated experience in accurate programming (e.g. in STATA), quantitative analysis, and database management; the ability to write for academic publication, the ability to support and lead training activities, deliver public presentations (policy briefs, PowerPoint presentations, etc.), and provide technical consultations. The post requires overseas travel of approximately 60 days a year, and is tenable for 1 year, to start as soon as possible.
