Manager - Equity Investments Division, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Role Purpose:

To lead equity investment function in Direct Equities Investments Division. To contribute to the delivery of IDBi. To oversee in the development of the current IDB equity portfolio.

Key Accountabilities and Activities:

• Manage the development of IDBi relevant strategy, budget and business planning processes.
• Oversee implementation of actionable equity investment short to medium term operational plans and budget with operational KPIs linked to IDBi strategy.
• Supervise equity investment activities.
• Support the development of the SAA by providing medium and long-term risk return projections for the asset class.
• Manage the implementation of the SAA for the particular asset class
• Initiate actions for equity investments and related business improvement and innovation.
• Establish and maintain working relationships within IDB Group and with external partners for joint working and knowledge sharing.
• Supervise and manage all investment related activities pertaining to the asset class including portfolio management, research and risk management.
• Supervise the management of the investment portfolios
  • Work with Investment Officers to develop investment strategies
  • Source opportunities and evaluate feasibility
  • Supervise and structure financing arrangements for acquisitions
• Monitor and review portfolio performance for the particular asset class
  • Initiate periodic asset valuations (hold/sell analyses etc)
  • Implement portfolio rebalancing and exit decisions as necessary
  • Monitor and manage acquired investments
  • Facilitate value-add in the investments (eg, performance improvement)
  • Provide regular reports on investments that compare actual performance to projected performance
• Monitor Propose and execute divestments
  • Propose divestment timing and divestment strategy for approval
• Execute divestment according to approved guidelines
• Identify potential investment opportunities
  • Source opportunities from brokers, banks, agents, etc.
  • Identify investment opportunities
• Lead evaluations of potential investments
• Lead deal team in liaisons with internal / external parties as part of detailed due diligence
• Represent IDB on the board of investee companies
• Support Investment Officers in the development of risk mitigation measures
• Develop and put-in practice the most effective direct equity investment's tools and techniques to ensure effectiveness and satisfactory results.
• Supervise, coach, and monitor the team of the Division, follow-up and evaluate their performance.
• Prepare risk assessments of portfolio companies and develop risk mitigation measures.

Experience:

• 12 years experience in similar role, among them 5 years in a similar role with Masters
• 10 years with Doctorate.

Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Economics/Finance/ Business Administration or similar qualification.
