Media support officer

Christian Aid is brave, passionate and outspoken. In daily contact with journalists, our press officers seek to blaze a media trail with exclusive stories, challenging statements, informed comment and a fast response to humanitarian emergencies.
To be effective, they need to be quick on the draw. And to do that, they need support. Which is where you come in. We’re looking for a media support officer to help the press office team function at lightening speed.
You’ll help the team organise and publicise a range of different projects to support fundraising, campaigning and media outreach. The work includes desk research, organising launch events and photo stunts, assisting with the planning and execution of overseas trips, and distributing photo call notices and press releases.
Just as we call on other organisations to be transparent and effective, you’ll carry responsibility in the Press Office for ensuring effective financial and press monitoring systems are in place.  This includes careful reading, logging and analysis of our media coverage on a daily basis and management of the systems that support that work.
You’ll also ensure that the team is administering itself well; ensuring that information is properly curated and shared across the organisation, checking that all that we do is in line with Christian Aid policies and overseeing the induction of volunteers and new staff.
Your experience is likely to include administrator or assistant duties spent either in a busy news room, PR agency or communications department. Your attitude must be one that thrives on working with others, juggling competing priorities and working to sometimes tight deadlines.
So if you’re fizzing with energy and fired up about helping those less fortunate than you, then join us in the fight against poverty and all its injustice.
Please show your suitability for this post by giving answers to the following questions: using the guidance notes may help you formulate your answers.

Steward resources

Deliver Results
Please give an example of the most complex systems that you have had to run.  What were the improvements you made and how did you go about identifying those? What were the people and process issues you had to resolve along the way?
We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation.  That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, an interest-free season ticket loan, and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance
