Job purpose and key deliverables

  • To perform audits across all IT elements of SAP (including the links to business processes), focused on the high-risk areas of BAT operations worldwide. Key objectives include:

    1. Identify significant risks and weaknesses in the provision of SAP ‘services’
    2. Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of controls over these risks
  • To deliver the Audit Compliance Plan either by leading or participating in independent risk based audits of BAT Applications and related processes. The Audit process includes the phases of planning, fieldwork and reporting. The role involves significant interaction with Group, Regional, Area and potentially End Market Leadership Teams. Work performed should be documented and must be easily understood by external audit and other internal auditors.
  • To prepare work programs for fieldwork execution and follow through to the preparation of written reports for Management which explain clearly and accurately the findings, their cause and impact on the objectives of an entity or process. Where control failures are identified, the job holder should assist management in determining action plans to mitigate the risk for the organisation.
  • To support the development and roll out of revised work programmes, processes and procedures for functional compliance audits aligned to the Target Operating Model. This may involve interaction with other business functions.
  • To assist in the provision of ad-hoc advice on technical and control issues to management across the Corporate Function in areas of SAP and related Applications. To lead/conduct investigations or other ad hoc projects as required.
  • To perform independent risk based audits of SAP (e.g. Programme and Project assessments, Basis reviews, (SAP) business process reviews) to ensure that controls supports the achievement of business goals whilst balancing risk and the cost.
Essential requirements

  • Must have extensive SAP experience (at least 3 years), preferably in a project or senior user capacity. Cross module understanding is preferred.
  • CISA desirable but not mandatory
  • Prince2 or MSP attractive
  • Full SAP working knowledge and experience. Knowledge of BAT’s Corporate finance processes, particularly Finance FSS functions is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Internal Auditing and process reengineering is an asset.
  • Capacity to recognise and adapt to the demands of different operating environments, senior management personalities and cultures.
  • Capable of recognising and appreciating differing points of view, and being able to act with high integrity in adapting approach and strategy to meet the objectives of the audit
  • Proven resource and project management skills and an understanding of risk management
  • The experience to work independently but within the context of a globally aligned function.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a wide audience both internal and external of varying levels of seniority.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical abilities, problem solving and influencing skills.
  • Be a self-starter who is capable of working with minimal supervision, yet have the ability to work within a matrix structure with varying teams and or roles from audit to audit.
  • Spoken and written English must be of a high standard.
  • A thorough understanding of the use and application of the Business Audit Methodology, IT tools and audit techniques.
  • Strong creative thinking, communication and influencing skills.
  • Looks for new and better ways of doing things, is not content with the status quo, questions traditional ways of doing things, finds new combination of old elements to form an innovative solution
