POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Data Analyst will maintain and enhance data systems and processes, supporting the monitoring and evaluation of the Scholars Program. S/he will work with Foundation staff and with program staff of Scholars Program implementing partners to optimize the use of the ETO (Efforts To Outcomes) database and incoming reports from implementing partners. Responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, analyzing data, and communicating the results of data analyses.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing a comprehensive database to collect and house information on Scholars' demographics, activities, and outcomes, including monitoring for data integrity and data extraction.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data and reporting outcomes to inform databased decision making, both in response to colleagues' requests and autonomously.
  • Generating periodic and ad hoc reports from data, and serving as an information resource for staff in reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Processing, evaluating and communicating results, trends and analyses of data in a clear and compelling manner, using both narrative and graphical tools.
  • Training
  • Foundation staff and implementing partners to effectively use the database and reporting tools.
  • Assisting in query- and report-building in ETO.
  • Providing quality control to ensure that ETO is being used effectively and consistently.
Data Analyst, Scholars Program
  • Conducting routine audits for quality and timeliness of data entry, and continually reviewing the structure of the database to ensure it serves the purposes intended.
  • Striving to make the users' interaction with the software smooth and logical.
  • Implementing upgrades to systems, protocols and data collection methods as necessary.
  • Identifying and working with the database solutions provider to address and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Working with evaluation partners to harmonize data collection activities.
  • Supporting knowledge management processes in the Scholars Program team.
  • Serving as an expert resource to Foundation staff on topics including: data systems design and management, the use of data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and data visualization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Masters degree or equivalent in the social sciences or education, and, Demonstrated capacity to produce high-quality narrative and graphical reports for a variety of audiences.
