Commissioners for the Low Pay Commission
The Low Pay Commission is an advisory non-departmental public body of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS). It plays a critical advisory role to help the government set the Minimum Wage at the optimum level and its aim is to help low-paid workers, without adversely impacting employment prospects or the UK economy. Our Commissioners bring a wide range of knowledge, experience and skills to make a direct contribution to our important and high profile work.
BIS is seeking to appoint three members:
1 Employee member with an employee representative background and ideally holding a senior post within a trades union or other employee representative body.
1 Employer member with significant experience of working in business in the UK or within an organisation representing businesses.
1 Independent member with an independent background and a considerable and demonstrable track record in an appropriate field, for example labour market economics.
With a record of high achievement in your area of expertise, you will be able to contribute independently and strategically and will constructively challenge the opinions of others, work to achieve a shared consensus and accept collective responsibility.
The time commitment will be on average 16 days per year, for which you will receive £242.12 per day plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.
