Regional Director, East Africa
Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organization for children working in 120 countries. All our international programs are now successfully transitioned into a single management structure and delivered through 7 regionally based offices around the world.
Based in Nairobi, the East Africa Region is our biggest, supporting the work in 8 countries, and with a programming portfolio of around $175 million.
The countries of our East Africa region include some of the most fragile states in the world, including Somalia and South Sudan, where there is intense humanitarian need and the rights of children are regularly under threat. Fortunately, our opportunity to make a real difference continues to grow, both as donor interest increases and through our joining forces with Merlin. An outstanding Regional Director is critical to ensuring the continued success of our mission in the region
To be successful in this role, you will have significant senior level leadership and management experience in a large and complex country and/or regional program operation, as well as senior field operations experience in both long term development and humanitarian response. With substantial knowledge of international humanitarian systems, donors & institutions, and best practices in program operations and quality, you will also have the highest level of expertise in representation, negotiation and advocacy with government, donors and international agencies to influence policy for children.
