The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Research and Business Management Office is seeking to recruit an experienced Agreements and Contracts Officer to assist the Unit to meet the challenges of providing high quality support at the level of demand required.
Primarily, the post holder will support the Agreements and Contracts Manager in administering LSTM’s agreements and contracts procedures, providing support across research teaching and technical assistance activities. Other duties will include: preparing, negotiating and executing a range of contracts; reviewing and analysing agreements and contracts to identify risks, liabilities or gaps in information and resolving these issues; assist in corporate policy activities; provide comprehensive advice and guidance to staff on issues relating to sponsorship, insurance and liabilities and administer the research contract tracking system.
It is essential that you are educated to degree level or have equivalent experience from working in a similar environment and be able to demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development. You should also have proven experience of working in a professional administrative role within Higher Education or a similar research and development environment such as an NHS R&D Office. Knowledge of research processes in Higher Education or a similar environment is desirable.
Strong administrative and time management skills with proven success of delivering results to demanding deadlines are essential as you will be handling multiple simultaneous projects. You should have the ability to communicate confidently and develop effective working relationships internally and externally to the organisation as you will be dealing with a range of people at all levels from diverse cultures. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications is crucial for this role, particularly in spreadsheets and database management.
