Job Summary

Cardno TEC is currently hiring for a Water Resources Technician Intern in our Honolulu, HI location to assist in water quality, flow monitoring, and sediment sampling projects for both storm drain systems and natural channels. This position will be performing mainly field work which will occasionally require on-sall responses working at night, on weekends, and during holidays.
 
The Water Resources Technician Intern position is hourly and hours per week will very depending on project demands and wet seather sampling needs.  this position is expected to last from January, 2014 to July, 2014.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following in addition to other duties that may be assigned:
  • Assist with installation, setup, and operation of automated instruments for hydraulic/hydrologic monitoring and water sampling.
  • Prepare and implement field tasks and operations.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain monitoring systems and equipment.
  • Conduct field data acquisition.
  • Follow safety and technical protocols.
  • Other duties may include general operations support (such as vehicle maintenance management), project assistant tasks, equipment and supplies procurement, organizational and re-supply tasks.

Other Requirements

​Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program, working towards a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Basic computer skills, including both software and hardware operational abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to conduct field work in a team environment under stressful conditions
  • Ability to understand and follow safety and technical protocols
Training and Experience:
  • Interest in, and ability to work with, electronic equipment
  • Previous construction experience is desired

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Field work will be required to be performed in varying weather conditions, often occur during inclement weather on a variety of terrains.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
