The role

The location of this position is flexible. We will appoint the best candidate for the role, wherever they are based in the world. This can be discussed on an individual basis.
You will report to SMEC's Chief Executive Officer and will work closely with SMEC's Executive Committee, with Functional Managers, Project Managers and Business Development Managers.
With a minimum of 20 years of experience, you will play a key role in:
    • Developing and successfully implementing the strategic plan for the Mining Oil and Gas division and participating in the development of the SMEC strategic plan
    • Increasing SMEC's market share through sustainable growth of the Mining Oil and Gas division and collaboration with other divisions.
    • Increasing Mining Oil and Gas opportunities through the identification and implementation of M&A opportunities
    • Providing leadership and management to the managers and employees located in the Mining Oil and Gas division to deliver optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development, continuity of consulting talent in order to meet business requirements – including a solid succession plan
    • Enhancing SMEC's reputation and brand-awareness through targeted high-level client relationship management and business development activity
    • Ensuring there is adequate governance of proposals and projects in the Mining Oil and Gas division to manage risk and deliver project performance that consistently meets or exceeds expectation in terms of budget and quality.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Thorough knowledge of the Mining Oil and Gas industry
  • Proven management experience at a senior level
  • Excellent Financial management/reporting and analysis skills
  • Excellent Strategic planning and resource management skills
  • Strong leadership and motivational ability
  • Excellent understanding of the full project life cycle
  • A proven track record of successfully leading a business, business line or large group, delivering on planned objectives (>$50m revenue)
  • A proven track record of building strong and fruitful client relationships
  • A proven track record of leading others to improve performance
  • A proven track record of building businesses in new markets and with new clients.
