Recruitment for this position is done on a local basis, whether or not the candidate is a resident of the duty station.
Passing the Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) at Headquarters or an equivalent recognised locally-administered test at a United Nations Office is a prerequisite for recruitment in the General Service category in the United Nations Secretariat.
Staff Members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by the Secretary-General. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Organizational Setting and Reporting
The position is located in the Service Group 1 (SG1) of the Financial Information Operations Service, Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts, Department of Management. The incumbent report to the Chief of Service Group 1 (SG1)
Responsibilities
  • Gathers and reviews requirements for development of financial, performance and monitoring reports and provides relevant support to finance users. Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of financial application systems servicing OPPBA
  • Maintains the integrity of financial data, undertakes data cleansing, enhances the quality of data and provides accurate reports for systems including IMIS (ERP), Budget systems, and Troop Cost databases.
  • Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations.
  • Provides support for deployed computer application systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to users' offices; performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users requests.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in finance, accounting, budget or business administration, information systems management or a related area required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Access creating reports and queries and Microsoft Excel analysis tools, formulas, functions and managing a workbook is required.
  • Experience in programming, specifically Visual Basic and Visual Basic for Applications, scripting and query languages is highly desirable.
  • Experience is report writing using business intelligence tools such Business Objects, Cognos or Crystal Reports is desirable.
Languages
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.

  • Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
