Assistant Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics

The University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a three-year position as Assistant Professor in the field of environmental and resource economics at the Department of Environmental and Business Economics, Campus Esbjerg.
The Department of Environmental and Business Economics is part of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and is located in Esbjerg. Research in the Department is organized in four research groups, and the announced position will be part of the research group “Management and Economics of Resources and the Environment” (MERE). In 2011 the MERE group was awarded a grant to build an internationally competitive ‘elite’ unit with around 10 positions from Postdoc through full professor.
The research focus of the MERE group is currently particularly on five topics:
- Risk analysis, risk management and risk communication
- Pollution and resource scarcity
- Environmental and natural resource regulation theory
- Integrated models
- Ecosystem based management
For this post, we welcome applicants with empirical research interest and expertise in International Environmental and Resource Economics. While the research group consists of economists, the research is often placed in multidisciplinary academic and international environment. The successful applicant is expected to be able to work collaboratively with colleagues in the research group. She/he will be expected to play an active role in the Environmental and Resource Economics research group and contribute to the further development of the group’s research profile. The successful applicant will enjoy the benefits of working in an inspiring and open research environment.
The teaching of the research group includes environmental and resource economics, microeconomics, finance, risk management, sustainability, green economic growth and energy economics on under-graduate as well as graduate level. Class sizes are generally small and the teaching load is approximately equivalent to 4-5 hours per semester week.

Application, salary, etc. Appointment to the position requires a PhD or equivalent and will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Assessment of applications will be done under existing Appointment Order for universities.
Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her.
Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
