Group Advisor – Human Capital Planning
- An exciting opportunity to be part of Rio Tinto's global HR Transformation
- Brisbane, Perth, Montreal or Salt Lake City Locations
Rio Tinto strives to be an industry leader in the mining and metals sector. Rio Tinto’s human capital strategy maximizes value and mitigates risk by the development of a cohesive people strategy, based on solid, long-range planning for our future human capital requirements. This allows us to anticipate future people needs, adapt to market volatility, focus our resources where they matter most, and optimize related risk and return.
The Group is currently undergoing a complete transformation of the HR operating model, with the aim of driving more sustainable, effective and efficient processes across the spectrum of human resources. Human Capital Planning, which encompasses Workforce Analytics, forms a key part of this transformational work moving forward.
As the Group Advisor Human Capital Planning, your key focus is to ensure that Rio Tinto has an effective and holistic human capital strategy in place. In order to achieve this, you will be the opportunity owner for human capital which includes workforce analytics, and will work closely with the other streams within the areas of expertise (resourcing, diversity & inclusion, talent and performance, learning & development, reward and benefits, organizational effectiveness), Global Business Services, Human Resources Partners and with HR Transformation teams on the development and embedment of end-to-end talent processes, ensuring that these are aligned with our future state process, while being relevant and fit for purpose for our business.
Moving forward into an operational steady state, as the opportunity owner, you will be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring operational capability exists within the model across the organization and that the work is being carried out by the right people, in the right locations.
- Translation of Group HR strategy into relevant functional strategies and plans, establishing and managing appropriate standards, designing and deploying human capital programs and the management of annual processes.
- Designing and performance management of end-to-end talent management processes and the setting of performance standards to monitor the effectiveness of talent processes in meeting business requirements.
- Leading a small group of highly specialized talent professionals, who will be considered the organization’s subject matter experts in their relevant fields.
As the role requires significant interaction and influence across the senior executive and leadership groups, we are seeking a highly capable and seasoned HR professional, with specialisation in leading human capital planning functions across global organisations with strong business acumen. We are embarking on a significant change agenda, and so we are ideally seeking an individual who has worked in organisations that have gone through similar transformations and can demonstrate their experience leading through the change. Ideally, you will have faced the challenges of working within an emerging market, and your ability to problem solve and find effective solutions in sometimes ambiguous environments will see you contributing at strategic levels from the outset and can demonstrate your experience leading through the change. You will be seen as a natural and credible leader, and will understand what it takes to lead a global team of highly specialised professionals, with a tertiary qualification to round out the profile.
Applications close Friday 9 May 2014.
