You will be responsible for providing strategic advice on Consumer PR and external communications. Assisting in the planning, implementing and evaluating Consumer PR programmes.

About the role

In this wide-reaching role, you’ll provide advice on Consumer PR and external communications with an iconic, industry leading brand.
 
Reporting to the Consumer PR Manager you will ensure BA has the right media coverage. With one of the world’s largest fleets and flights to destinations worldwide, British Airways is the perfect place in which to let your career take flight.
 
You’ll be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a wide range of Consumer PR programmes, promoting the British Airways brand and its products and services. You will have specific responsibility for food and drink campaigns.

About the day to day

  • We’ll expect you to make sure the content and approach of programmes is customer focussed, strengthens our brand and drives forward our business goals.
  • You’ll be instrumental to achieving positive PR coverage in the news sections of print, broadcast and digital media.
  • Along the way, you’ll build strong relationships with a broad variety of key parties - from British Airways Communications colleagues and directorate leadership teams, through to journalists and partner organisations.
  • Build relationships with key media to develop opportunities and keep BA ‘top of mind’ when journalists are writing stories in which BA could be featured
  • Draft press materials and leadership support material for external events, including key messages and briefing packs
  • Manage a Consumer PR Assistant and effective handling of ticket requests, fulfilment and evaluation

About you

  • To be equal to the challenge, you’ll need to be a skilled and creative communicator, with proven experience in a communications department or PR agency
  • Experience of working on major Consumer PR programmes and delivering media coverage is essential
  • We’ll expect you to demonstrate strong knowledge of Consumer PR practice combined with excellent written skills, where you are able to write clear and concise messages
  • You will need proof reading and basic editing experience
  • Crucially, you’ll have a flair for building strong coalitions with different departments and advising senior management
