The PhD programme at the Faculty of Health Sciences is a research education which qualifies the PhD student internationally for independent handling of research, developmental tasks and teaching in the private and public sector, which presupposes a broad knowledge of research.
The education is completed under supervision.

The standard PhD programme equals 180 ECTS credits, equivalent to three years of full-time study. Within this time frame, the student completes a degree programme that includes:
• A research project, which is carried out under supervision
• A course programme, which corresponds to half a year's full-time study (30 ECTS credits)
• Establishment of affiliation to one or more other research environments (possibly international)
• Teaching experience and other kinds of knowledge dissemination
• Preparation of and writing the PhD dissertation
The three years run from the time of registration to submittal of the PhD dissertation. The time period which includes assessment, defence and allocation of the PhD degree is not included.

Please be aware that you can not apply unless you have a mainsupervisor attached to the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark.
Salary, tuition fee and running costs has to be secured as well before submitting an application.

• Project description (max six pages in total, excl. of references, in either Danish, English or both languages)
• Copy of applicant’s education certificates
• Documentation for research experience (attach under “List of publications”)
• Statement of acceptance from all supervisors, Short CV from all supervisors (attach under “Refrences”)
• Financial documentation (attach under “Other relevant material”)
Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement of October 1st 2008 on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
The successful candidate will be enrolled at University of Southern Denmark in accordance with the faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
