European and International Service Manager
Bristol City Council
Bristol, United Kingdom
Raise the profile of Bristol on the European and international scene.
This is a unique opportunity to use your significant knowledge to act as the Council’s European and international expert. You will make your mark as you ensure the city of Bristol has a strong European and international profile and reputation. It’s a chance to liaise and network at the highest level.
Skilled in translating vision into reality, you will ensure the Council has a cohesive European and international strategy that feeds into and builds on the Mayor’s international engagement programme as well as our European Green Capital 2015 status. You will manage the new Head of Bristol office in Brussels as well as a small Bristol-based team, to ensure our interests are effectively represented in Brussels, in particular securing multi-million pound grant funding from a range of sources, including Horizon 2020 as well as other international funds.
You’ll bring the credibility to represent the city at a senior level with a wide variety of businesses, government, and academic stakeholders as well as the European Commission. Your senior management experience will include securing significant external grant funding from European and international sources. This will mean you have sound knowledge of European policy, programmes, and protocol as well as international sources of funding.
Here in Bristol we’re ambitious. We’re reaching outwards to raise our profile and secure funding for our dynamic city. We’re looking to define our presence on the international stage, and build on the legacy of becoming European Green Capital in 2015 as well as an inaugural member of the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Network. So this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic manager looking to develop, progress, and impress.
