Chief Commissioner, ICAI
The Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty. We're ending the need for aid by creating jobs, unlocking the potential of girls and women and helping to save lives when humanitarian emergencies hit.
The Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) reviews the effectiveness and value for money of UK aid. As Chief Commissioner for ICAI, you will oversee the delivery of high quality, accessible reviews, represent ICAI and communicate its reports to stakeholders and report to Parliament. This will include appearing before the International Development Committee at public evidence sessions. You will strengthen the impact of UK aid by monitoring implementation and providing feedback. Maintaining the independence of ICAI whilst managing the relationship with DFID and other Government departments will be essential in this role.
The role calls for good knowledge and understanding of international development and public policy, supported by senior level experience in the public, private or voluntary sectors. The ability to analyse and make judgements from complex data and develop workable recommendations to improve the impact and effectiveness of international development programmes will be essential. You should also have the credibility and communication skills needed to gain the respect and confidence of stakeholders and engage with Ministers, Parliament, practitioners, the public and beneficiaries. To this you will add an independent, objective approach and strong powers of analysis.
