Commissioner, ICAI

The Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty. We're ending the need for aid by creating jobs, unlocking the potential of girls and women and helping to save lives when humanitarian emergencies hit.
The Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) reviews the effectiveness and value for money of UK aid.  It is headed by a Chief Commissioner, supported by 3 other Commissioners.
As one of the Commissioners, you will support the Chief Commissioner oversee the delivery of high quality, accessible reviews through a contracted out service provider, representing the ICAI and helping communicate its reports to stakeholders and appearing before the International Development Committee at public evidence sessions if required. Helping to strengthen the impact of UK aid by monitoring and feedback is a key focus of the role.
The role calls for a background in  evaluation,project managementor another relevant field, supported by senior level experience in the public, private or voluntary sectors. Knowledge and understanding of international development would be an advantage, though we are looking for a mix of skills and experience across the Commissioner team as a whole. The ability to analyse and make judgements from complex data and develop workable recommendations to improve the impact and effectiveness of international development programmes will be essential. You must also have the credibility and communication skills needed to win the respect and confidence of stakeholders and engage with Parliament,, the public and beneficiaries. To this you will add an independent, objective approach and strong powers of analysis.
