The Indirect Organization is global, with personnel in all of the main countries where Sandvik has a large number of employees. The Indirect Organization delivers a service to all Sandvik sites by supporting and executing indirect purchases. It ensures that the purchased products or services fulfill the requirements of the right quality and delivery at the lowest total cost, and meet EHS requirements. The Indirect Organization is responsible for interaction with the supplier market. There are thousands of suppliers that are eager to deliver their skills and innovations to Sandvik and make Sandvik even more competitive.
The Regional Category Management role, together with the whole Indirect Organization, is to ensure that Sandvik exploits this supplier market opportunity in the best way, with an attitude of enjoying doing business. This includes identifying greatest possible benefits and synergies for Sandvik, internally as well as externally.
The location for this position is flexible within Europe.
Key performance areas
As Regional Category Manager for Logistics, your responsibilities are to provide timely and effective sourcing, expertise and mentoring for stakeholders, while being responsible for coordinating regional alignment with the global Category Strategy. The position is a hands-on role, delivering value through analytical and commercial leadership in strategic sourcing and procurement.
The main responsibilities of the Regional Category Manager for Logistics include:
- Optimizing and developing the performance of indirect suppliers belonging to the Category
Logistics
- Responsibility for the Logistics Category in the region (with respect to the Logistics
Governance Model), in identifying and implementing savings related to purchased products
and services, and thereby, in a transparent way, improving the profits of the BAs and
PUs/sites
- Developing and implementing regional category strategy across BA/Indirect Purchasing
- Leading and supporting peers, providing guidance on all matters within the Logistics
sourcing process, and ensuring the Logistics sourcing process is implemented
- Acting as the process leader for continued sourcing process improvement
- Leading the development and on-going management of regional sourcing activities,
including multiple and simultaneous supplier selection and negotiation processes,
specifications, selection criteria, etc.
- Conducting and implementing contract management for assigned contracts
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the Logistics Sourcing Process Model and
Governance Model
The position involves traveling.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a degree in a relevant field, such as supply chain, finance, law or management. You have solid knowledge and experience from working strategically in an international purchasing organization, including at least five years' experience in the field of logistics. Further, you have leadership experience and advanced skills in Microsoft Office. Excellent ability in written and verbal English is a requirement and you can communicate with management and staff at all levels in the organization.
You have a strong customer focus, are result oriented and know how to build effective, global teams. The position places major demands on your project leadership skills. You are perceptive and easily create a trusting environment for collaboration, while inspiring and motivating your co-workers to create team spirit and enthusiasm in order to reach the business goals. You are interested in developing the business and have the ability to implement changes.
