Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development and food security in order to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society. ACDI/VOCA currently has approximately 46 projects in 31 countries and revenues of $151 million.
Chief of Party, Various Countries
We are seeking potential Chief of Party candidates for upcoming USDA-funded Food for Progress projects. The Food for Progress Program helps developing countries and emerging democracies modernize and strengthen their agricultural sectors. U.S. agricultural commodities donated to recipient countries are sold on the local market and the proceeds are used to support agricultural, economic or infrastructure development programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides strategic vision and leadership for the program to achieve program goals
  • Manages coordination mechanisms with relevant stakeholders. Serves as the key liaison with HQ, government officials, the private sector, local and international NGOs, implementing partners, and community members
  • Monitors operations throughout the year to ensure adherence to budgetary controls
  • Undertakes area assessments to identify needs and future direction. Develops existing and new program opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in international development or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of experience managing large, multi-year USG-funded programs
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a Program Director capacity. Demonstrated Team Leader or Chief of Party experience preferred
  • Experience managing complex programs in a post-conflict environment
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Previous USDA or USAID experience preferred
  • Fluency in English required, proficiency in regional languages preferred
