The Division of Human Nutrition, located within the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, is repositioning itself as a leading African Centre for training and research, aimed at addressing the nutrition and food security challenges of the 21st century.

Duties:
• Strategic leadership and operational management of the division, giving expression to its vision of a world-class centre for innovation in nutrition policy and practice;
• Initiating and guiding collaborative research and teaching programmes in priority areas;
• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in advanced aspects of nutrition science, food & nutrition policy, as well as nutrition programme management;
• Supervising Masters and Doctoral students;
• Serving on University and external committees;
• Expanding community interaction initiatives.

Requirements:
• A Doctorate OR advanced stage of completing a Doctorate (for appointment at Associate Professor level) relevant to the field of nutrition;
• Proven management experience in academic or related environments;
• Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience;
• Proven independent research experience and interaction with national and international nutrition-relevant institutions or agencies;
• Experience of successful postgraduate supervision (minimum Masters level).

Recommendations:
• Experience in continuing professional education, advocacy and policy dialogue on food and nutrition;
• Compliance with criteria for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Appointment is on the joint establishment of Stellenbosch University and the Provincial Government of the Western Cape.
