Brazil Project Manager

CODE 10/2012 PM BRA POSITION Project Manager LOCATION Rio Formoso-Recife (BRASIL) DURATION 1 year (possibility of a Phase 2) REQUIRED COMPETENCIES At least 3 year relevant experience in developing countries as project manager, preferentially in Latin America and in the target area in particular:

  • Experience in coordinating and supervising multi-cultural staff;
  • Ability to relations with international donors, local authorities and the beneficiaries;
  • Knowledge of administrative and procurement procedures
  • Experience in project accounting and administration

Demonstrated skill and experience in report writing and financial/budget management, monitoring and evaluation, combined with strong team management skills;

Strong leadership, supervisory and people skills as well as experience with NGO procedures, approaches, and operations

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, accounting software

Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese Postgraduate Degree on economics, education, or similar DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES Fluency in written and spoken Spanish Fluency in written and spoken Italian Previous experience in the country or region Previous experience in projects dealing with inclusive business and with involvement of local associations, cooperatives, authorities for economic development WORK CONTEXT Cesvi has been operating in Brazil since 1992, and is currently developing its projects in two Brazilian States. In the northeast of Brazil, in the State of Pernambuco, Cesvi contributes to fight poverty and unemployment of young people through two sets of actions: -development of social business initiatives in partnership with local entrepreneurs and training for disadvantaged teenagers. -strengthening of public policies to prevent urban violence and promote social cohesion in partnership of the Government of Pernambuco and the local Governments of the Loreto Region (Peru), Intendencia de Paysandù, (Uruguay) and the Municipality of Bergamo (Italy).

JOB DESCRIPTION The collaboration will start in February-beginning of March 2012.

The project Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the project, supporting and coordinating the local partners, with particular attention to the project management and the accountancy, following to CESVI and Donor's rules and guidelines. S/He will coordinate and monitor the project activities, promoting and following the inter institutional agreements, public and private, necessary for its proper implementation. The Project Manager will work under the Desk Officer supervision. Main tasks: -The person will represent Cesvi with donor, local authorities, international partners and the beneficiaries at country level; -S/he will be responsible of the national coordination for the implementation, supervision and monitoring of the project; -S/he will have overall responsibility on project management, planning and execution of all project.
