About the Job

The Business Development Director will have overall responsibility for developing and supporting the divisions LCDN engagements. In this role the incumbent will manage a small team of Solution Engineers and Business Development Managers.

The Business Development Director will work closely with the Network Strategy team, which deploys, manages and develops the relationships with Akamai’s network partners. In the process of identifying and driving forward LCDN engagements the incumbent will interface with internal legal, technical, product and business development teams to identify the right commercial and technical terms of customer or partner relationships.

About the Team

Carrier Products is a dynamic “start-in“ group that defines, develops, and sells Akamai’s carrier products to fixed and mobile carriers (and partners selling to those parties). The group works with several other groups in Akamai as well as engaging with many external customers and consists of business development, engineering, product, marketing and financial personnel.

Responsibilities:

* Lead the go to market efforts from a business development perspective with regards to LCDN globally.

* Identify market opportunities which leverage Akamai’s existing competitive advantage, assets and relationships as well as capitalize on emerging industry trends.

* Present in front of Key customers and Partners.

* Develop a strategy, go to market plan, forecast and tracking system.

* Regularly engage with LCDN customer prospects.

* Negotiation of business and technical terms.

* Provide thought leadership with regard to LCDN opportunities. Effectively communicate market information across the organization.
* Effective peer leadership across various groups throughout the company – sales, account management, engineering. Create an enthusiastic environment for the LCDN business.
* Build an exceptional team – recruit, retain and develop a deep bench ensuring the continuity of the business (Manage an initial small team, and grow the team with demonstrated success.)

* Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
* Minimum of 12 years of business experience in the technology industry.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in Technical Sales and/or Technical Business Development.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience of managing teams.

Desired Qualifications

* Strong Technical Background in networking.
* Software business selling to service providers (telcos, MSOs, ISPs).
* Internet technology – TCP/IP and HTTP based knowledge.
* Wireline and wireless equipment and network architecture protocols.

* Excellent Interpersonal Skills.

* Strong Presentation Skills with Customer, Partners, Executive Management and Colleagues.

* Strong reputation as a thought leader, awareness of technology trends and external influencers.
* Ability to set clear and deliverable goals. Demonstrates tenacity, commitment to deliver and be accountable for results.
* A motivator capable of instilling excitement and inspiring others.
* A proven track record attracting, hiring, retaining, and mentoring high-performing teams and individuals, as well as effectively managing employee performance through measurable objectives.
