Department

The Technology, Distribution & Archive Division delivers the technology and services that enable the BBC to fulfil its strategic and business goals. In simple terms, it provides the technology to enable great content to be delivered to our audiences 365 days of the year. The scope of activities and responsibilities include:

• Setting the Technology Strategy for the BBC
• Management of 3rd party supplier and technology partner contracts
• Delivering on projects of all sizes up to and including multi-million pound technology infrastructure and software projects
• Ensuring IT and telephone infrastructure availability for all BBC platforms and systems
• Responsibility for keeping our radio and news channels on air and on-line
• Working with output divisions on developing and delivering their technology strategies
• Managing the BBC’s Archive
• IT, Information security, and Business Systems across the BBC

Role

Working with Technologists and Project Managers, you will be responsible for delivering detailed expert business or technical analysis for the projects you have been assigned to. It will be your responsibility to identify, articulate and deliver the requirements documentation to effectively support the change being delivered by a project, programme or work stream.

You will also be responsible for identifying and forging appropriate business relations to facilitate business or technical decisions that are in the BBC’s best interest and to ensure that requirements are captured accurately.

Requirements

You will need to have significant experience of working across the project lifecycle and in using formal Business Analysis tools and techniques such as: writing use cases, structured analysis & design, process mapping, component business modelling and business process re-engineering.

You will also need strong analytical skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into business, operational and technical requirements. You will be able to communicate persuasively, build effective working relationships across a range of teams and levels and possess excellent written skills.

Ideally, you will have experience and knowledge of HR, Finance and Enterprise systems and processes and / or knowledge of media technology and workflows.
