The aim of the European University Institute shall be to contribute, by its activities in the fields of higher education and research, to the development of the cultural and scientific heritage of Europe... This aim shall be pursued through teaching and research at the highest university level..., the Institute shall develop interdisciplinary research programmes on the major issues confronting contemporary European society, including matters relating to the construction of Europe.

A Chair in Transnational Private Law (LAW2)

Candidates should be engaged in research reflecting the theoretical dimensions of private law from a transnational and comparative perspective; prepared to participate in the Department's inter-disciplinary research on the impact of European integration, globalisation and transnational legal developments; and prepared to supervise theses across a wide range of themes of transnational and comparative private and economic law.

The contract is for five years, renewable for a further three years. The Institute is an equal-opportunity employer.
