Chief Executive Officer ,Queensland Rail Limited

Queensland Rail Limited was established in July 2010, following one of Australia’s biggest demergers. As Queensland’s largest Government Owned Corporation it has 145 years of history, around 7,300 employees, more than 7,000 kilometres of track, and significant assets and projects. Queensland Rail’s vision is to set new standards in safety and customer excellence, while supporting the growing state of Queensland with its culture of people working together to achieve a shared goal.

Reporting to the Chair of the Board and working closely with the Minister for Transport and Multicultural Affairs and a number of Queensland Government agencies, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership and direction to create a commercial, high performing organisation where safety and customer service remain the highest priority. The role leads the senior executive team in implementing strategy and manages relationships with key stakeholders and business partners to achieve Queensland Rail’s objectives. Leading a constructive and values-based culture is a key element of this role.

The role calls for an experienced CEO, who has successfully led a complex logistics and supply chain organisation of substantial scope, size and influence. Experience in leading large capital projects is essential. Demonstrated capabilities in effective business partnering and stakeholder engagement across all areas of government and community are required.

Transformational leadership, a transparent approach and a strong customer focus will be critical to further develop a safety-orientated performance culture. A background in dealing with the media and maintaining a positive public profile should be coupled with a diplomatic style and sound judgment.

This role presents a significant leadership opportunity to drive the provision of safe, on-time rail travel to Queenslanders at minimum cost.
