Chief of Party-Pandemic Preparedness Project

International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance. International Medical Corps Worldwide is a global humanitarian alliance that comprises the resources and capabilities of two independent affiliate organizations, International Medical Corps and International Medical Corps UK. Together, our mission is to save lives and relieve suffering through the provision of health care and training. With headquarters in the United States and the United Kingdom respectively, we collaborate to maximize resources for the delivery of appropriate relief and development activities.

PREPARE Project The PREPARE project is a coalition funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and led by International Medical Corps. The projects mission is to strengthen the capacity of the least resourced countries in Africa and Asia for multisectoral disaster management and pandemic preparedness planning. In collaboration with the Pandemic Response Program (PRP) of the US Department of Defense, PREPARE aims to promote the integration of pandemic preparedness into wider disaster management and preparedness initiatives. As a result, target countries will have improved pandemic preparedness plans that will become an integral part of their national emergency management plans and will effectively cooperate in their planning with the critical sectors (both public and private) including the defense sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES •Set monthly, quarterly, annual and project duration strategy; •Develop and maintain relationships with key existing or potential stakeholders in target countries; partner organizations; etc; •Ensure that the strategic directions, project benchmarks, accountability and internal control standards are established and exercised; •Ensures that the results oriented directions, targets, deliverables and standards of care are communicated and agreed with the IMC senior leadership, the project team and in consultation with the United States Agency of International Development (USAID), other partners and stakeholders; •Ensure that project elements are conceptualized and the team members and consultants understand their roles and responsibilities and are properly trained to implement the project tasks in compliance with all the project requirements of USAID and IMC; •Ensure that technical deliverables and monitoring and evaluations plan are designed, agreed, and match the project requirements and ensure that all the project information and benchmarks are achieved in a most transparent way and properly reported; •Ensure that the project team and consultants are properly trained, roles and responsibilities are properly assigned and the team is able to implement the project agreed deliverables; •Provide sound day to day leadership in recruitment, training, programmatic and fiscal operations, performance evaluation of the project and staff; •Conduct monthly deliverables and project practices review. •Ensure that contract, finance and grants administration functions are in full compliance with provisions of the agreement with the USAID; •Ensure that the project financial projections, expenditures and internal audit functions are in full compliance with the contract provision of the USAID and IMC; •Ensure that fiscal and program documentation processes flow; •Ensure that lessons learned and approaches are communicated, captured and reported; •Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. ***Please note that the position will require 60-70% of travel to target countries in Africa and Asia

REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of a Master’s level degree in public health, international health development, health project/program management, or an equivalent field; • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience working in development activities in developing countries; • Experience working in Africa and/or Asia is desirable • Experience with international emergency disaster relief, and management of training events desirable; • Work experience and exposure to the field of pandemic preparedness; business continuity planning; etc is desirable • At least three (3) years experience as CoP or Director for a health development project with similar scale and complexity; • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple partners on collaborative projects; • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with senior government personnel, NGO partners, host country governments, multinational corporations, donors, international and U.S. government organizations; •Previous experience with USAID cooperative agreements or grants is a plus
