We are currently looking to recruit an editor to join our global corporate communications organization. This role can be based in either London, UK or The Hague, Netherlands. This role is within the editorial team, which is staffed by professional writers with backgrounds in journalism, speechwriting and corporate communications. The role requires someone with a proven track record as a writer and editor and experience in a corporate communications environment. We are looking for someone with excellent writing skills and the ability to express complex ideas or technical information in plain language. They should have a high degree of enthusiasm, curiosity and interest in energy and related issues.
Responsibilities:
To support Head of Editorial in developing and implementing clear and consistent editorial messaging to ensure widespread understanding of Shell’s strategy, strengths and objectives.
Distil large amounts of often technical material into clear and compelling stories/texts under tight deadlines
Help colleagues understand the needs of target audiences and the communications tools necessary to engage them effectively.

Write, edit and publicize key messages and stories about the company and its employees in a variety of publications and media, including:
  • Speeches by Executive Committee members
  • Articles/stories for channels including print, web, the INSIDE ENERGY APP, videos, press releases and Shell reports
  • Act as managing Editor for at least one key annual publication (Sustainability Report, Annual Report, etc.
  • Help to develop and enforce consistent Shell style.


Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in journalism or communications and /or MBA
  • Solid track record in journalism and experience in a corporate environment
  • Clear understanding of print, web and social media processes and objectives
  • Ability to use professional judgement to manage sometimes contradictory guidance and feedback from a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively across borders, with people from different cultures and at a range of levels in the organisation, including very senior management
  • English mother tongue, or equivalent, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Other languages would be advantageous.
  • Ability to secure the trust of stakeholders
  • Sound persuasive, diplomatic and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of corporate business and relevant industry sectors highly advantageous
  • Ability to cope with tight deadlines and a wide range of tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter showing high degree of personal initiative, integrity and drive
  • Open, flexible, and focused on getting results
  • Ability to solve issues and problems quickly and independently, cope with stress
