Responsibilities:
  • In this role you'll provide Geomatics and GIS support for an exploration team,to support their work conducting exploration,prospect generation,regional geologic studies and maturation of drillable prospects.

    Detailed include the following:
  • To manage spatial data specific to the project team in accordance with corporate standards
  • To ensure that project data is attributed with proper meta-data, that it is published appropriately to corporate or global data stores and that it is geodetically sound
  • To utilize the ArcGIS Desktop suite to analyze spatial relationships between data this includes: gridding, contouring and 3D visualizations, areal relations between features, statistical trend analyses and correlations between data sets
  • To present the data and the results of the analyses in the form of maps, charts, graphs, or web services which are cartographically complete, correct, clear and concise
  • To create key business maps and produce ad-hoc or on-off maps
  • To identify, create and improve workflows dealing with spatial data exchanges between G&G software applications
  • To create scripts, tools, or models where appropriate to enhance the data flow and analysis
  • To promote and share the power and possibilities of Geo-Information (GI) and GIS technologies with peers and customer groups in support of staff learning and development


Requirements:

Education:

  • The Geo-Information Analyst should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or related discipline from a recognized university

    Competencies:
  • Highly motivated with good organization, communication and team working skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrates a strong business sense and technical expertise in GIS, GIM and related technologies
  • Ability to apply advanced techniques, theory, concepts and practices in GIS
  • A diversified knowledge of GIS principles and practices is desired
  • Ability to share knowledge and experiences, willingness to adopt the ideas of others, while keeping abreast of new developments, recognizing technology gaps and knowing what the competition is doing in the field of GIS
  • Technical experience with implementation and maintenance of GIS standards, processes, procedures and metadata
  • Experience with and demonstrated understanding of E&P workflows
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of geodetic issues and coordinate reference systems and the associated spatial transformations typically carried out on spatial data
  • Demonstrates ability to handle many projects concurrently and negotiation skills available to work through conflicting deadlines to reach agreement with clients in an amenable manner
  • Ability to produce excellent results in a short timeframe, as legitimate project deadlines require

    Experience:
  • Four to eight years of relevant GIS and mapping/cartography experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry in the US.
  • Experienced in the use of ESRI Desktop GIS applications
  • Working knowledge of SQL, FME, AutoCAD would be beneficial
  • Spatial programming skills/experience preferred
