Shell Canada is currently seeking a Finance Analyst for our Fort McMurray, AB location.
Responsibilities:

Working as a team with the Finance Advisors in the Production area to provide financial analysis, performance measurement and financial forecasting to enable better understanding between cost drivers and cost /operational performance and help indentify, implement and measure cost and other cash improvement opportunities and enable better business decision support.


Accountabilities
1. Liase with business, compile planning, budgeting and target setting.
2. Perform financial analysis, commercial input and challenge in support of Business decisions.
3. Provide data, reporting and other financial information in support of optimizing value of contract portfolio.


Dimensions

  • Support to $1.2 billion Opex.
  • Reports to Finance Manager
  • Works as a team with Finance Advisors in the production area.
  • Works with Production Team.
  • Take some direction and informal leadership from Finance Advisors to deliver quality financial services as a team to the business.

Special Challenges
1. Engagement with a broad range of stakeholders and managers at various levels.
2. Large unit cost competitive gap to close.
3. Relatively immature business that is increasing significantly in size and production.
4. Remote site with two geographically separate mines and no ability to draw on Group for mining experience/exposure.




Requirements:
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • University degree in Business and or working toward of having obtained professional accreditation.
  • Very good interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Courage to effectively challenge the business.
  • Previous experience in an operating setting would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Shell’s control framework, and business management processes.
    Some commercial acumen and awareness in the commercial contracting area.
  • Competencies commensurate with the new FiB Competence profile
