Global Advocacy Officer, Advocacy and Public Policy

PATH's Advocacy and Public Policy team works to improve global health by increasing awareness and support of global health priorities by targeted policymakers. PATH advocates for change by working with policymakers, coalitions, and other influential individuals and groups. We leverage our unique expertise as a provider of field, technology, and program solutions that are innovative, field-driven, scalable, affordable, and based on best practices to influence and inform public policy decisions.

PATH is seeking a global advocacy officer to support the coordination of global advocacy on child health and vaccine related policies. The position will work with a small team of global health advocates and will report to the government affairs officer for child health within the Advocacy and Public Policy department at PATH in Washington, DC.

The global advocacy officer will work as the primary liaison with PATH staff located in Ferney-Voltaire, France and Geneva, Switzerland.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support the implementation of global advocacy strategies to improve policies and resources for child health and immunization.
  • Coordinate and provide technical assistance to country-level advocacy partners (including PATH and external partners).
  • Represent PATH at global fora and meetings to support increased support by global policymakers and advocates for vaccines.
  • Liaise with Geneva and Ferney-based PATH colleagues.
  • Partner with PATH and WHO’s project Optimize to develop an advocacy strategy on the future of immunization supply systems, cold chain and logistics.
  • Work with Washington, DC, Seattle, WA, Ferney and Geneva-based vaccine advocacy and communications colleagues at PATH to support the development and implementation of a strategy to collect and use evidence from the field to develop materials to help advocates increase US political support for vaccine access in the developing world, which may include resource-gathering trips.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at engaging with strategic partners in Africa, Asia and/or Latin America toward targeted advocacy goals.
  • Experience working on global health policy and advocacy.
  • Experience working collaboratively with international and national partners to develop and implement advocacy strategies.
  • Experience developing advocacy and messaging materials to inform policymakers about global health issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) complex issues in a concise, compelling, and easily understandable manner.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Strong interest in global health.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English essential. Ability to work in French highly desirable.
Required Experience

Graduate degree in public health, public policy, communications, or related field plus at least five years of experience working in advocacy and/or policy; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in low-resource settings a plus.
