Background / General description:
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, promotes sustainable private sector investment in developing countries as a means to reduce poverty and improve people’s lives. IFC’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services department (MAS) is responsible for developing and managing relationships with private sector companies in emerging markets, and is looking to hire an Investment Analyst (IA) to complement the team in Moscow. (S)he will work on the Portfolio for the CEU region (covering Central Eastern Europe and Central Asia), and report to the Senior Portfolio Manager based in Istanbul, and be mentored by an Investment Officer in Moscow office.

Duties and Accountabilities:
The IA will have the primary responsibility for assisting Investment Officers on a large number of MAS projects in various sub-sectors and countries, with regard to a wide variety of tasks, outlined below.

These tasks in an assisting capacity include:

- monitoring operational and financial performance of clients, compliance with financial and other requirements (IFC and external),

- analyze reports submitted by clients;

- assist Investment Officers on handling disbursements, waivers and other client requests;

- preparing quarterly risk ratings, and other management reports with focus on financial analysis and credit risk analysis;

- prepare development outcome analysis on projects;

- create and update valuation models for equities in the MAS portfolio;

- keeping abreast of country and financial sector developments of countries where portfolio clients are located and identifying and analyzing strengths and weaknesses of clients in order to anticipate near- and long-term performance and elevate issues to Investment Officers and management.

The IA must have the ability and skill set to gradually (dependent on the candidate’s experience and performance) take on the full responsibility for above mentioned tasks and (in the medium to longer term) the full responsibility for portfolio managing projects in all aspects.

Selection Criteria:
Excellent English language skills and proficiency with financial modelling are a must.

- BA or equivalent degree with specialization in finance;

- Minimum 3 years of work experience in one or more of the following fields: corporate banking, project finance or consultancy, portfolio management, equity or credit analysis, financial auditing;

- Good knowledge of accounting (IFRS/USGAAP, Russian Standards is a plus);

- Strong analytical skills, primarily with regard to analysis of financial statements;

- Understanding of credit risk and loan/investment documentation;

- Good financial modeling skills. Ability to create detailed financial models (project finance and equity investments);

- Ability to multi-task, deal with conflicting priorities and deliver high quality work on schedule;

- Strong teamwork and excellent oral and written presentation skills.

The position is a term appointment in Moscow, initially for two years. The position is subject to local recruitment. A financial modeling test is part of the recruitment process. Only selected candidates will be contacted.
