Job mission

•To plan and build secure network infrastructure and solutions, configuring, upgrading and deploying them according to the needs and requirements of the customer in alignment with overall capacity and utilization planning and MTN Business’s business objectives.

•To ensure optimal use of existing and planned capacity, managing quality and security of the network and proactively monitoring on all aspects of the MTN Business core network related to security.

KPA duties

Operational effectiveness
•Maintain and support the core network/security infrastructure during and after business hours, ensuring quality, stability and availability for the business.
•Pro-actively monitor and maintain the core network security infrastructure (24x7).
•Take actions to prevent the reoccurrence of problems, identifying external parties to assist with problem solving if required.
•Consult to Solutions Consultants regarding the planning and design of effective solutions for customers, ensuring that the needs and requirements of the customer are taken into account and that solutions are aligned with the operational plans of the Technical team.
•Implement solutions and innovations in line with network architecture and with the operational plans of the Technical Team.
•Providing input and recommendations into solutions for tenders.
•Communicate all faults and planned work through the correct channels clearly and timeously.
•Initiate and implement ideas and feedback on network tools, procedures and improvements to area functionality.
•Assist with the operational establishment and development of new MTN networks in the international arena.
•Assist project teams with rolling out complex customer solutions..
•Ensure conformance to performance parameters and SLAs in all areas of planning, building and configuration of the MTN Business network from a security perspective.
•Provide complete and accurate documentation of proposed solutions for customers and for internal use.

Customer relations
•Establish sound relationships with all stakeholders.
•Understand customer needs and provide relevant input into the development / fine-tuning of systems accordingly to ensure customer satisfaction.
•Ensure that customer specifications are met and that customers are satisfied with the solution and service offerings at all times.
•Establish and maintain quality standards that will enhance the customer experience and cost efficiency.
•Consider the implications of actions to be taken for the customer and the effect on the customer, providing advice on the best approaches to reach the best results.

General
•Contribute towards continuous improvement and innovation at process and procedure level, providing input and recommendations into ways of fine tuning systems and processes in line with changing work practices.
•Work consistently according to standard operating procedures.
•Assist in development of security policies and the implementation/enforcement of such.

Educational requirements

•Matric
•Degree or tertiary technical equivalent
•CISSP or equivalent

Experience required

•At least 3 years engineering experience in IP and security networking arena, preferably in the service provider space
•Specialisation in one of the major networking sectors
•Experience in customer facing service/support in IP and security networking space
• Project management experience
