Physician Trainer , I-TECH Namibia

I-TECH Namibia promotes activities that increase human capacity for providing HIV/AIDS clinical care and support through the development of health care worker training systems.

Physician Trainer

The Physician Trainer (PT), under the direct supervision of the Physician Training Manager/ STA Advisor (PTM/STI), will have the responsibility of fulfilling some of the training objectives of the U.S. CDC Country Operating Plan (COP) for Namibia, and will work with the PTM/STA in the training of doctors and/or pharmacists in the public and private sector in the delivery of care and treatment for HIV/ AIDS and TB for both adults and children. The PT will also be involved in training on prevention, including Male Circumcision (MC), and other related topics.

Responsibilities • With the PTM/STA, collaborate with primary stakeholders and partners in implementing a series of HIV and AIDS clinical training courses and training of trainers (TOTs) for both public and private physicians and pharmacists. • Participate as a trainer and facilitator in training sessions as assigned by the PTM/STA, and depending on level of clinical expertise. • Assist to identify and develop a cadre of clinical trainers to support physician training activities. • Assist in content development for curricula for the physician and pharmacist training program for both the state and private sectors. • Assist in content updating and revision of HIV-related training materials. • Assist with the development of video training products, presentations on DVC (Digital Video Conferencing), and assist distance learning with activities as requested. • Assist in development and implementation of the country office work plan and M&E plans. • Prepare training reports to document successes and challenges of the training courses and curricula revisions.
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual reports. Identify achievements that may be worthy of broader dissemination.

• See patients in a state ART clinic one morning per week, time and commitments permitting.

Minimum Requirements in Education, Training & Experience:

• Medical Doctor with five years working experience and experience in HIV, AIDS and TB care and treatment. • Prior experience in the development, coordination and delivery of health-related training for physicians • Demonstrated ability to build a team of medical professionals into a functioning training unit • Proven ability to facilitate communication in order to keep partners working together effectively • Strong communication skills in English to include reading, writing, and public speaking • Ability to work independently • Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail • Proven computer skills including MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel
