Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU

The Public Administration and Personnel Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus is looking to recruit one expert at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union, to provide support to permanent staff on handling the staff regulations dossier

Required qualifications and Skills:
Candidates should hold:

  • University degree (or equivalent qualification) in one of the following areas or combination thereof: Human Resource Management, Law, Political Sciences and European Studies
  • Work experience, of at least six months, on issues dealt with by the Working Group of the Council of European Union on Staff Regulations.
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Confidentiality, good analytical, communication and organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and as part of a team, resourcefulness and integrity.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Work experience (including traineeship), of at least six months, at a European Union Institution and/or other EU Member-State’s Permanent Representation to the EU during their Presidency of the Council of European Union, will be considered an advantage.
  • Very good knowledge of French will be considered an advantage. Knowledge of Greek is desirable but not a prerequisite.

Responsibilities/ Duties:
Chosen candidate will be expected to assist with all work related to the Working Group of the Council of the EU on Staff Regulations. He/she will serve as note-taker in meetings; prepare memos, reports, draft statements; negotiate texts; and carry out any presidency-related duties and tasks assigned to him/her by the head of mission or his/her immediate supervisor.

Contract duration/Remuneration:
Employment is offered within the needs of the Cyprus Presidency and is expected to last at most 10 months (March-December 2012). The monthly gross salary is expected to be €4.600 + Christmas bonus.

Employment will be subject to the Conditions for Local Staff Employment at the Diplomatic Representations of the Republic of Cyprus abroad.
