Senior Manager, Business & Sustainability Council

Conservation International’s Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB) is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Business & Sustainability Council, a networking group of companies dedicated to ensuring business is a force for conservation. CI created the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business to engage with corporations to minimize environmental impacts and to harness private sector ingenuity on behalf of healthy ecosystems and human well-being. The Senior Manager, Business & Sustainability Council will cultivate and maintain the approximately 30 member networking Council and will serve as an advisor to the Conservation International –Singapore team with the management of the Asai-Pacific Council. The Senior Manager, Business & Sustainability Council will also help assess and evaluate opportunities to invite new members to the Council, either by adding membership to the portfolio of the existing partnerships or seeking new relationships where Council membership can be the gateway to a broader relationship. In addition, the Senior Manager, Business & Sustainability Council will work with field divisions to assess further global expansion of the Council.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan two meetings per year with a Design Team comprised of Council volunteers and CELB staff to develop robust meeting topic, presentations, guest speakers.
  • Direct logistics for meeting, working with host Council member.
  • Manage internal and external communications related to the Council.
  • Serve in an advisor role for Asia-Pacific Council and work with field divisions to assess additional opportunities for global expansion of the Council.
  • Develop new member recruitment and current member retention strategies.
  • Oversee the work of a Coordinator to track the expenses and revenue related to the Council and to assist with meeting logistics.
  • Serve as project manager and lend assistance as necessary on follow up activities and special projects as determined by Council and CI staff.
  • Cultivate and help develop deepter relationships with a select number of Council members.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment, with occasional evening phone calls with field offices.
  • Some domestic travel will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience
  • Excellent communication and client services skills
  • Demonstrate prior experience working with senior executives (VP level and above)
  • Solid understanding of conservation priorities and CI’s mission, as well as current trends in corporate social responsibility and environmental business leadership
  • Collaborative spirit and ability to work in team settings across cultures and internally within a diverse institution
  • Ability to deliver results while managing competing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree
Preferred:
  • Previous experience managing networking groups or planning executive-level, content-heavy events
  • Previous account management experience and/or corporate fundraising
  • Master’s degree in business or relevant field
