Job Description

PATH is an international nonprofit organization that transforms global health through innovation. We take an entrepreneurial approach to developing and delivering high-impact, low-cost solutions, from lifesaving vaccines and devices to collaborative programs with communities. Through our work in more than 70 countries, PATH and our partners empower people to achieve their full potential.

Based within the HIV/AIDS & Tuberculosis Global Program, PATH's Tuberculosis (TB) portfolio consists of a dynamic and growing set of both global and country-focused technical assistance projects. Such projects include supporting DOTS expansion and quality improvement, building the evidence base for successful TB control strategies, laboratory strengthening, TB/HIV service integration, infection control, programmatic management of drug-resistant TB, public-private sector collaboration, introducing and evaluating new tools and diagnostics, and advocacy, communication and social mobilization (ACSM).

Consideration will be given for relocation assistance.

PATH is seeking a TB Technical and Strategic Director to provide technical expertise and strategic leadership for the TB portfolio.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of PATH’s TB program strategy. Anticipate trends and develop new TB program areas to keep PATH competitive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Provide senior technical support and guidance to all global and field-based projects.
  • Provide expert technical assistance as requested by donors, partners, national TB programs, and PATH offices.
  • Lead PATH’s technical contributions to global policies, guidelines, and tools.
  • Lead PATH’s work in specific technical areas of TB control.
  • Represent PATH on international working groups and task forces and maintain contacts with other organizations working in TB control.
  • Represent PATH at international conferences, in meetings with national TB programs, donors, technical partners, and elsewhere.
  • Work with the team to produce scientific papers on PATH’s work.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of TB control approaches and trends.
  • Provide training and mentoring to PATH TB staff globally.
  • Supervise and mentor staff.
  • Make significant contributions to funding proposals and business development.

Required Skills
  • Internationally recognized expertise in TB control, as exemplified by strong relationships in the TB community and a strong publications record.
  • Excellent bridge-building skills with demonstrated ability to work successfully with NTPs, donors, partners, consultants, and staff in delivering project results in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to work with multicultural teams in locations across the globe.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 35 percent time.
  • Fluency in a second language preferred.
Required Experience

An advanced degree (MS, MPH, MD, and/or PhD) in a relevant field plus a minimum of 10 years of experience in public health program design and management is required. Five or more years of experience in implementing TB control at local or national levels in high-burden countries, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired. An ideal candidate will also possess experience managing complex, multi-country projects; experience in training and capacity-building; excellent English oral presentation and written skills; and experience in developing policy documents and technical guidance, including participating in Stop TB Partnership, WHO or other technical working groups. Particular expertise in new diagnostics, drugs, and vaccines along with experience working with USAID agreements and contracts is highly desirable. Experience working on integrated health projects is also highly desirable. Prior experience writing large scale, complex bids of multimillion dollar value with proven success is ideal.

PATH is dedicated to diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
