Environmental Specialist Canada
Barrick Gold Corporation, Toronto Office, is currently looking for an Environmental Specialist for supporting the corporate environment group. The successful applicant must have between 3 - 7 years of experience at an operation or project level with a track record of successful advancement.
The successful applicant must have;
- Experience in implementing and working environmental management systems
- Experience with environmental monitoring and management plans
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
The applicant should also be a self-starter who enjoys a fast paced and results oriented environment. As well, the applicant must have a proven ability to work with operational and technical personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Environmental Personnel Development Initiative
§ Compass program
· Develop tracking system for Training accomplishments
· Review Environmental modules
· Develop basic training materials for the training learning objectives
§ Mid career development program
· Support the development of Training Learning Objectives
· Develop a tracking system as a support for regions
o Information Management System (IMS)
§ Support the IMS improvements plan (short term and long term plans)
§ Review and update environmental categories in RIMS
§ Coordinate schedule and action plans tracking system
§ Keep track of key environmental metrics for quarterly reports
o Transparency
§ Development of new environmental fact sheets
§ Updates and changes on the information
§ Support the regions in implementing and tracking improvements in Environmental data controls management
o EMS
§ Support the development of environmental guidelines and standards to support the EMS
§ Develop templates to manage and track environmental corporate risks
§ Review training materials for the Environmental Management System introduction courses
§ Initiate a program to implement some specific EMS elements in the corporate office (Toronto)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not have workers under its responsibility but will require continuous coordination with regions and sites environmental personnel.

Education and Experience Requirements
