Barrick Gold Corporation, is currently looking for a Manager Strategic Technical Solutions for its Operations Group.
This position targets an individual, who:
a) Contributes to the development of a strategic vision and leads or supports company-wide technology initiatives in Mining:
- design, coordinate and implement Mine optimization & growth programs;
- advise, plan and supervise Mine technology evaluation and development in capital projects and business development;
- test and develop process technology breakthroughs through several new mining initiatives (in gold and copper mining);
b) Delivers results by closely working with Barrick’s internal experts in related subjects identifying challenges of major significance, assembling and coordinating high-quality teams in technological identification and development for potential implementation to resolve these challenges.
c) Creates and maintains an outstanding network of experts and a comprehensive technology portfolio in Mining.
A minimum of 10 years experience in the technology awareness, evaluation, development and implementation field in Mining is required. It is also expected that this individual will have knowledge of a broad range of technologies that may not have been applied to the mining industry which can be potentially leveraged. The candidate must have the ability to develop an understanding of the economics and the engineering of the proposed solutions so that the solution is driven by both technical and financial considerations. A post-graduate degree or equivalent practical experience is advantageous, while experience in the operation of mines is an attractive competence.
The candidate should have a strong technical background in one or more of the focus areas, possess capabilities to generate a clear, elaborate, strategic vision, have proven management skills in technology development and implementation, demonstrate very good communication and interpersonal skills and have an excellent network of information resources in mining and the mineral industry.
