About RI: Relief International (RI), an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programs bridging relief and development, currently seeks a Global Microfinance Controller.

Position Summary: The Global Microfinance Controller is responsible for the financial management and oversight of Relief International’s microfinance programs. This is a leadership position that will oversee the financial, risk and internal audit management functions to prepare and transition the programs into regulated entities. The position will work closely with senior management to enhance overall performance by preparing performance reports and analysis, and developing financial projections in addition to overseeing regional finances for the microfinance programs and affiliated entities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Works closely with M/Finance team to implement, improve and maintain financial management policies, systems, structures, and procedures.
  • Ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the finance office through supervision/management of finance department staff
  • Plans and supervises work of the Iraq MF finance and admin staff including tracking and monitoring of outstanding loan portfolio and expenditures, maintains an office purchasing, inventory, and requisition system
  • Ensures timely submission of monthly financial reports
  • Ensures timely follow up actions to fix reporting errors at the field level
  • Ensures field control accounts monthly reconciliation are correct, duly signed, approved and verified by the authorized staff
  • Ensures a regular monthly reconciliation of the loan portfolio account book balance to the portfolio balance in MIS
  • Works closely with the Program Managers to monitor a loan portfolio
  • Prepares Consolidated Monthly Financial Statements
  • Prepares Monthly and Quarterly Consolidated Portfolio Report including key portfolio performance indicators
  • Prepares donor reports
  • Works closely with project coordinators over the project implementation planning and cash flow projections.
  • Prepares RFFs
  • Prepares budget revisions in close coordination with project manager when necessary
  • Makes sure that financial records and backup documentation are ready for internal and external audits
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors
  • Other tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.

  • B.A. or master degree in accounting or a related field;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a financial manager for microfinance programs with experience in transitioning between a non-profit and a regulated entity
  • US government funded grants financial and administrative management experience is a preference
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented and able to work independently. Knowledge of QBs, SUN, and MIS (DELTA) software is required.
  • Excellent command of English is a must, knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
