Position Description:
Morgan Stanley is seeing a strong Credit Risk Officer. This position will report directly to the Credit Officer of the Portfolio Loan Account (“PLA”) Credit Team within Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A (“MSBNA”) located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The successful candidate will oversee the hiring and development of staff and develop policies, procedures and reporting for the PLA product. The individual will have day to day portfolio risk management oversight of the securities based lending (“SBL”) portfolio. This individual will be responsible for PLA reporting to Firm Credit Risk Management, MSSB Management and MSBNA’s Management. This individual will work on new products projects, system enhancement, IT projects, and internal and external audit requests as they pertain to the SBL portfolio.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise staff on the PLA credit team
• Oversee vendor relations, particularly with regard to credit outsourcing
• Oversee and make determinations regarding margin calls on specific loans
• Work with credit professionals in determining risk and appropriate collateral levels
• Work closely with staff from the affiliated broker-dealer, particularly in regards to exceptions
• Oversee risk reporting functions including allowance for loan and lease losses, stress testing, Basel II requirements, and monthly bank credit committee reporting for a retail securities based lending portfolio.
• Oversee credit risk management projects for other functional areas including collateral expansion, hedge fund lending, lending to high net worth clients
Skills Required:
• BA; preferably finance, accounting or economics
• MBA a plus
• Prior Securities-based lending experience
• Management experience
• Credit Risk management experience required including knowledge of stress testing, portfolio analytic s, ALLL, and Basel II
• Bloomberg experience including individual securities reviews and credit determination
• Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel
Skills Desired:
• Knowledge of margin lending helpful
• AFS portfolio management
• Hedge fund lending
• Non standard collateral lending
• Experience writing credit rationales and loan approval memos
