VSO IT information management advisor

VSO is looking for an experienced volunteer to support the development of the organisation’s capacity by building good quality and effective information management systems.

What does the role involve?

You will work with the VSO Bangladesh programme office to:

  • Review and update the existing knowledge management systems, policies and procedures
  • Assess the effectiveness of the new knowledge management programs
  • Build the knowledge of the staff & volunteers in using the knowledge management system
  • Design training for the staff and volunteers to help them access the knowledge management tools
  • Support staff in the use and analysis of social networks and in forming communities of practice
  • Support the programme office and the partner organisations in IT system development, including trouble shooting
  • Develop the capacity of staff designing and managing a Website

Skills, qualifications and experience required

You'll have a relevant qualification in IT or information management and excellent knowledge of IT software and hardware. You'll be experienced in developing database information management systems, including trouble shooting and maintenance. You'll also know how to build and manage a website. You'll be an excellent communicator, able to transform ideas into practical IT solutions and able to supervise and guide colleagues in the use of these solutions. You'll be the type of person who is flexible, motivated and positive, able to solve problems and inspire others. As well as all this, a sense of adventure is key!

You'll be based in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. We’ll ask you to commit 12-24 months to make a sustainable contribution to development goals and in return we’ll provide you with invaluable training before your placement, a local living allowance, return flights, accommodation and insurance. When you return to your home country we’ll help you resettle and we’ll invite you to stay involved with us through campaigning, development awareness raising and fundraising.
