Christian Aid Traffic manager

We are seeking a talented Traffic Manager to join our fast-paced, forward-thinking Communications Division.

The Traffic Manager is a key member of the studio management group responsible for trafficking the flow of high volume projects and jobs into studio teams, capacity planning and scheduling.

The post holder will also manage major fundraising and campaigns projects through the studio.

Candidates will need expertise in large scale publishing project management and experience of a broad range of commercial print, display, merchandising and other marketing and communications collateral. A track record in print specifying and print buying is also required to support the production department. They will need a strong studio management background, excellent organisational and client handling skills with an ability to prioritise their own workload and work on their own initiative. Traffic Management System and strong IT skills a must, you will need a degree or equivalent.

Steward resources

As Traffic Manager you will be required to evaluate upcoming studio capacity, plan and allocate resources appropriately and organise freelancers and suppliers to deal with periods of peak productivity.

Please tell us about an instance when you foresaw and had to managed studio capacity at a busy time with urgent deadlines. Describe how you evaluated the extent of the upcoming problem, what options were open to you and what actions did you took to manage the situation. Describe the outcome and evaluate your performance.

Deliver results

The traffic manager will be required to manage some of the larger publishing projects handled by the Communications Division design studio. Describe a medium-to-large publishing project (30 items or more) you have managed. Include details of the range of deliverables, client and studio staff briefings, your scheduling and allocation strategies and risk factors you considered. What problems did you encounter, how did you resolve them and what was the final outcome?

Communicate effectively

Describe a project or job where there was considerable ‘scope creep’ from the client in the context of a high profile job. What steps did you take to manage expectations and ensure delivery while managing impact on studio capacity? How did you communicate this to both the client and studio teams? What were the results of your intervention?
