Farm Manager / India

CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center) invites applications for the position of Farm Manager (Nationally Recruited Staff). The incumbent would be responsible for overall development (organization & operation) of the farm. The incumbent will also supervise agricultural operations, development works, security and related operations. The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years subject to satisfactory completion of probation period (1 year) and subsequent renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of sufficient funds.

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

* Mapping and outlining the farm salient features, like soil type and soil-fertility and accordingly making the land classification.
* Carry out inventorization of farm resources.
* Take stock of labour-requirements, power requirements and capital needs at the farm level.
* Select farmers and provide appropriate training to them for raising crops and conducting other agricultural operations.
* Ensure time bound field operations, input supply, crop protection measures, etc.
* Arrange storage for seed and farm produce.

Education / Experience:

* Post graduation in agricultural sciences, preferably in crop production.
* At least 5 years of experience of practical handling of a large farm and managing the agricultural operation (facilitating applied research, input arrangements, operating farm equipment, managing on-site labour, etc).
* Working knowledge of English and local regional languages at duty station.

Job Location:

* Incumbent will be located at Pusa, Bihar.
