The International Economic Development Group (IEDG) at ODI is recruiting a Research Officer to do research and undertake advisory projects focusing on an aspect of international economic development (trade, finance and growth). As a Research Officer, you will help develop, fundraise for, conduct and manage research, advisory and public-affairs activities under the supervision of the Head of Programme and Research Fellows.

The International Economic Development Group (IEDG) aims to influence international economic policy relevant for prosperity in developing countries. It achieves this by undertaking high-quality innovative research in areas relevant to contemporary economic policy debates, and by making the results accessible to opinion-formers and policy-makers. Our work is organised around three main themes:

  • trade and trade policy;
  • international finance;
  • growth.

About you

The successful candidates will have:

  • a postgraduate degree in economics;
  • active knowledge of key international economic institutions (eg World Trade Organization, G20, United Nations);
  • experience in producing research outputs;
  • experience in an international policy development research environment demonstrated in publications and reports;
  • excellent research, analytical and writing skills;
  • the ability to plan their own work schedule and multitask effectively to deadline and budget;
  • the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and projects;
  • willingness to be based in London but travel on a regular basis.
