Senior Program Specialist, Human Resources — Addis Ababa

Position Responsibilities: 
Under the supervision of the Director of Administration and Finance, the Senior Program Specialist – Human Resources performs advanced professional work related to human resources (HR) functions for all ASLM team members, including but not limited to: employee relations; conflict resolution; compensation and benefits administration; development, implementation and administration of ASLM’s human resources programs and employment policies and manuals; personnel record-keeping; workers compensation and team member safety issues; training and workforce development; and compliance with applicable HR laws and regulations.
Additionally, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement and manage a centralized recruiting process, including developing job descriptions and advertisements, and screening and interviewing candidates as appropriate;
  • Oversee the organizational development and training functions, and develop employee training programs;
  • Analyze benefits options and cost alternatives for providing employee benefits, recommend benefits program modifications and implement approved benefits modifications;
  • Work with senior management to craft consistent, equitable and competitive compensation and incentives; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
 
Minimum Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred. At least ten years of professional experience across all human resources disciplines, including employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, workers compensation, and conflict resolution;
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce; prior experience working with an international non-profit a plus;
  • Fluency in English required, and working knowledge of French as a second language a plus;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook; knowledge of accounting software preferred.
