About the Organization:

The Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM), a non-profit agency, is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Its mandate is to alleviate poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations, and reduce economic and social exclusion by establishing sustainable institutions that extend a broad range of innovative financial services to underserved population.

Background

In 2005, AKAM established the First Microfinance Foundation (FMF), Egypt to alleviate poverty and generate economic growth. As a locally-managed lending institution it aims to foster entrepreneurial activity, especially for women in underprivileged neighborhoods. Its operations are governed by principles of long-term sustainability and financial discipline. The Foundation extends credit mainly for income-generating loans to micro and small enterprises and also provides social loans for housing rehabilitation, education, health care, and family emergencies.

About the Job:

FMF is looking for a Youth Program Manager. S/he will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the creation and management of FMF'??s new campaign. This campaign will provide job training and business skills to Cairo youth (age 18-32) to find gainful employment or start their own businesses by utilizing available funds to maximize outreach and exposure for Cairo's youth.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

•Establish a center location, finding a flat, and furnishing;
•Interview, select, train, and oversee the performance of up to 20 staff;
•Develop and oversee the process of selecting youth and enroll them in the program;
•Develop and oversee the process of studying the feasibility of selected youth’s business;
•Evaluate the youth needs for any business training and provide it through in-house trainers;
•Sign loan agreements to provide youth with necessary capital to start their business and/or enroll them in a vocational or special skills training;
•Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with the Foundation donors, the concerned governmental bodies and partners;
•Fulfill extensive reporting demands of USAID as well as any other donor requirements.

Qualifications:

•Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in a leadership role of a large division or foundation;
•Extensive experience in dealing with international aid agencies and donors;
•Experience in preparing business plans, cash flows, and banking operations;
•Experience in business development services for start ups;
•Excellent reporting skills in English and Arabic;
•Ability to analyze work results and to take corrective actions;
•Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources;
•Excellent organizational, communication, and training skills;
•Experience in managing and motivating staff.
